Luxury Slabs was founded on a simple conviction: a grade on a label and a flattering photograph are not enough information to justify a serious purchase.
We specialize in one category and approach it deliberately: high-grade, CGC-certified key issues from the Silver Age (1956–1970) and Bronze Age (1970–1985). That means Marvel's foundational runs — The Amazing Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, X-Men, and Tales of Suspense — alongside DC's cornerstone titles, including Batman, Green Lantern, and Justice League of America, and the Bronze Age horror keys that defined their era.
A CGC grade describes a book's technical condition. It does not tell you how thin the census is above that grade, what comparable copies have actually sold for in the past twenty-four months, or whether the market for that issue is rising or softening. We complete that research before a book is ever listed, so every title we carry is genuinely scarce, accurately represented, and priced against the current record rather than a peak-of-market wish.

Documented Provenance
Every listing states the CGC certification number, grade, page quality, and the specific significance of the issue. You can verify any certification number directly against the CGC census before you commit a dollar. If we know something about a book's history, it is on the page. If we do not know, we say so rather than filling the gap.

Priced Against Completed Sales
Asking prices are set against completed public auction results at comparable grades — Heritage, ComicConnect, and ComicLink — not against asking prices or peak-of-market wishful thinking. We will show you the comps for any book in the vault on request, including the ones that argue against us.

Guaranteed Authenticity
Every book ships in its factory-sealed CGC holder, double-boxed, with insurance on orders over $1,000. If a slab arrives damaged in transit, contact us and we will make it right. We also purchase collections outright, with clear written terms and no consignment fees.
Market Intelligence
Vintage keys are a real asset class with a real, public price history — including a hard correction most sellers would rather not put in front of you. Every figure in this section is a completed public auction sale traceable to its lot record. Nothing here is an estimate, an index, or an asking price.

The cycle, unedited. Every dot is one completed auction sale at Heritage, ComicConnect, or ComicLink — not a smoothed index. Both books ran up hard into 2021–22 and both corrected: Tomb of Dracula #10 in 9.8 is about 80% off its September 2021 peak, and Hulk #181 about 63% off. We would rather you see that here than discover it after you buy. It is also why we price against recent completed sales rather than peak comps.
Why we only deal in high grade. Same book, same market, sorted by grade. A CGC 9.8 Hulk #181 last cleared roughly 26× a 4.0 copy, and the step from 9.6 to 9.8 alone is close to a 4× jump for two tenths of a grade. Condition is not a detail in this market — it is most of the outcome.
Checkable, book by book. The most recent documented public sale for issues we hold, at the grade shown, with auction house and month. These are current comps rather than peak-of-market numbers, and we will send you the lot links for any of them on request.
Where these numbers come from. Every figure in this section is a completed third-party auction sale of a CGC Universal copy, sourced from Heritage Auctions, the ComicConnect sold-item archive, and ComicLink results as published by CGC. None of it is a Luxury Slabs asking price, an index, or our own sales history. Restored, qualified, signature-series and non-CGC copies are excluded.
Two things to read carefully. Price bases differ by house: Heritage figures include its 20% buyer’s premium, while ComicConnect “sold for” figures are hammer price before its 15% premium, so points from different houses are not perfectly like-for-like. Heritage sale dates here are accurate to the month. Where we could not confirm a sale at a given grade, the point is left out rather than estimated.
A single sale is one data point, not a guaranteed value. High-grade keys have traded across very wide ranges, the market has fallen sharply from its 2021–22 peak, and past results do not predict future prices. Nothing on this page is investment advice.
