Key Hunt

Curated eBay searches for CGC-graded Silver and Bronze Age keys

The hobby holds millions of graded books. These are the eBay searches we run ourselves when we are hunting Silver and Bronze Age keys, filtered to CGC-graded copies and sorted so the fresh listings surface first. Use them, bookmark them, and read the checklist at the bottom before you pay for anything.

Links on this page are eBay affiliate links. If you buy through one, Luxury Slabs may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. The books in these results belong to other eBay sellers; we have not inspected them, and prices and availability are theirs, not ours.

Silver Age Marvel keys

The books that built the hobby: 1961 to 1970 Marvel, where first appearances and early issues set the market.

DC Golden and Silver Age keys

Detective, Batman, Action and Showcase. Older, scarcer in grade, and the census tells the story.

Bronze Age horror and first appearances

1970 to 1979. Horror books in 9.8 are scarce because nobody kept them nice; monster keys lead the decade.

Budget 9.8s and live auctions

For buyers who want the top grade without a four-figure outlay, and for anyone who likes to bid.

Before you buy a slab on eBay

  1. Verify the certification number. Every CGC label carries a cert number. Look it up at CGC's certification lookup and confirm the title, issue, grade and page quality match the listing.
  2. Match the photos to the label. Ask for the listing's photos to show the actual slab, front and back, not a stock image. The cert number on the label should be readable.
  3. Check the case. Look for cracks, scuffs that obscure the book, and a newer-style CGC holder with intact seals. The grade only means something while the case is intact.
  4. Read the seller's feedback for slabs specifically. High volume in other categories says little about how they pack a four-figure comic.
  5. Insist on insured, trackable shipping and confirm the return window before paying. Sealed-slab sales are often final.
Hunting Spider-Man or the Fantastic Four? Our Amazing Spider-Man key issues guide covers thirty keys from #1 to #300 one by one, and the Fantastic Four key issues guide does the same for 43 issues from #1 to #286, each with a CGC search and price-history lookup.
Collect cards too? Our Card Hunt page runs the same curated searches for PSA and CGC graded Pokemon, sports cards, Magic, sealed video games and vintage toys.
Want one we have actually held? Every slab in our own case is photographed, cert-verified and priced against recent sales. Browse the Luxury Slabs inventory, or see the same books on eBay (affiliate link).
